Went for a walk to the Ueno Zoo recently, got a really nice shot of the male lion.

They are HUGE! I dont want to be in the same room with one of these!!

Special light up of Tokyo Tower to commemorate Samurai Japan on its victory at the World Baseball classic.

Capsule Tower

This building is called the Nakagin Capsule Tower.

Designed by the late Kurokawa Kisho, this building was built in the early ’70s as a new concept capsule building. Each room was built in with the latest technology available, and the thinking was that, as technology improved, new blocks would be built, the old ones would be pulled out and replaced with the new, hence the tenant would always be living in lap of latest luxury.

Unfortunately, the capsules were never updated, and now the building is in severe disrepair. Now there are talks of demolishing this building.

Hama Rikyu Shidome

It was such a nice day I went out to Hama Rikyu, a garden near Tokyo Bay. The plum blossoms were in bloom as well as some rape blossoms.

Since this is Tokyo, you can get a nice view of natural gardens surrounded by modern skyscrapers. This pic shows the Conrad hotel and the Dentsu building in the background.
